Sponsorship of Victo

Many children in Uganda live in poverty and are vulnerable. Given a chance to go to school they have a hope of pulling themselves out of poverty. Child sponsorship gives a child a chance of education and helps with other basic needs. Helping a child also helps the family and the community.
In 2007 a first year class in the Grammar bravely took on the task of raising the 218 euro needed each year to sponsor Victo Athhienno. Since then they have raised the the sponsorship each year by a cake sale and carol singing.
Victo is now 13 years old and like many Ugandan children has only one parent . Many children in Uganda are either orphans or have only one parent die to Aids.
If anyone is interested in sponsoring a child themselves please contact the us in school for more details.
The write gift- last year's project

Last year, the school participated in a Fields of Life campaign to donate pencil cases containing valuable learning equipment for the children in Ugandan Schools. Each pencil case contained: A Pencil; A selection of coloured Biros; A Ruler; A pencil eraser; A pencil sharpener and other items. Classroom equipment could also be donated. The Ugandan Vice-President has kindly agreed to waiver the import tax on these pencil cases to aid their distribution to the Ugandan children.

Right you can see some of the First Form pupils who helped to collect the pencil cases - in total 153 cases were filled and over €300 collected to cover expenses! It was hard for us to accept that a pencil could be so difficult to afford in Uganda
Gifts of Life

Previously we raised money to buy "Gifts of Life" - items to help generate money for the people in Uganda.. Goats, Chickens, Sewing Machines, Cows, Bicycles. Chappatti makers and even turkeys are just some examples of the items that were sponsored. Over 1700 Euro was collected!
