Sligo Grammar School was delighted to welcome a group of Spanish secondary school students in this term. From September 25th to October 11th twenty five students from Vigo in Northern Spain joined the second years and attended classes with them for the three weeks. Each of the visitors had been awarded scholarships by their local council which allowed them to attend SGS. The students were hosted by local families and some of the SGS teachers were involved in organising activities for them after school. The Spaniards also got a chance to see more of the country, visiting Galway, Dublin and Athlone as well as seeing the sites associated with the Spanish Armada here in Sligo. They were also invited to Sligo Town Hall for a special reception. The students enjoyed their time in Sligo and made many friends in the Grammar School. The experience was very beneficial for all students, Irish and Spanish, and many a tear was shed as they bid their new friends farewell! See some photos HERE
