Extra Curricular Activities in SGS

As expressed in its mission statement, alongside academic pursuits, Sligo Grammar School values and promotes individual achievement and wholeness.  Extra Curricular activities allow  students recognise their full potential across many different areas, and are a very important part of school life in  the Grammar School. All students are encouraged to choose one or more of these activities , because involvement helps them make friends, discover hidden talents and feel more part of the school community. As well as the enjoyment these activities afford, everyone is aware nowadays of the huge mental health benefits of active and creative pursuits. Sports such as hockey, rugby, kayaking, horse-riding, rowing, athletics and basketball are on offer and more creative pursuits such as the school musical (TY & 5th yr) choir, coding, art room access and debating are also available.  All students are strongly encouraged to get involved in some extra curricular activity and the school deeply appreciates the selfless dedication of the staff who invest their personal time into the running of these activities.
