As well as rewarding academic success, SGS rewards achievements in a wide range of extra-curricular and sporting areas. On Friday October 7th Sligo Grammar School had a “Funky shoes and Socks” Day. The event was organised by Leaving Cert LCVP students as a fundraiser for The Samaritans. The day was in association with World Mental Health day and students and teachers were asked to wear their most creative shoes and socks for the day. Participating students brought in €2 each for the charity and a total of €513 was raised. Well done to the organisers and all who took
This year, 2022, marks 10 years of TY Mentoring in Sligo Grammar School. The Mentoring Programme was introduced into the school in partnership with the Home School Liaison Service. All 3rd Year students are given the opportunity to volunteer as a mentor for our new incoming 1st Year students. Students are selected to be a mentor on their ability to act as good role models, to provide support and encouragement to younger students and to have good communication skills. At
Sligo Grammar School Green Schools Committee is up and running again this year. The school was awarded a Green Schools flag last year, the result of a lot of hard work. However it was the request from the National Green Schools body to use the school las a case study on the their website that really pleased the committee.
