Green Schools Project

Sligo Grammar School Green Schools Committee is up and running again this year. The school was awarded a Green Schools flag last year, the result of a lot of hard work. However it was the request from the National Green Schools body to use the school las a case study on the their website that really pleased the committee. The National co-ordinator of Green Schools was very impressed by the campaign work on Fast Fashion as well as the collaborations with eco-aware companies such as Ireland Beeswax Wraps and the soap box project. They also complimented the structure of the committee as well as the student-led, whole-school nature of the SGS Green Schools project. The SGS project is on view as an example of excellence on

This year the Green Schools Committee will begin their 22/23 campaign with a clothes collection in partnership with Clothes POD. Parents, students and friends of SGS are asked to do a sweep of their wardrobes and bring in unwanted clothes, bedding, curtains, towels, paired shoes, belts and handbags. All clothes collected are redistributed to poorer regions of the world. Recycling or shredding will only happen to unusable items. The collection will be on Friday 21st October so please drop all your donations in to the school between Monday 17th and 1pm on Friday 21st. All monies raised will go towards financing this year’s Green School Campaign.
