She was awarded the prize for a poem she wrote dedicated to her father who died in 2020 having suffered from dementia for ten years. The poem, “Lemon Drops in the Pocket of My Father’s Overcoat”, recalls his life with his family and friends and reflects on his illness. The judges at Canterbury called

Once again Sligo Grammar School is holding its annual Food Appeal in aid of Sligo Social Services. This project has been in operation for many years now and has always enjoyed a great response from our students, parents, staff and friends. The food collected goes to the Social Services who distribute it to needy families throughout Sligo. We invite everyone to contribute toiletries and non-perishable foodstuffs to the collection. The U17 Boys played a Friendly V Lough Allen College Drumkeerin last week in Dromahair, and won 8 – 2. The boys, who were captained by Ashraf Tumuheirwe, attacked from the beginning to end of the game and were good value for their win.
