Past Pupil Paralympic Star

Past-pupil Martin Gordon visited the school on Wednesday 16th March to present his Paralympic jersey to the school. Martin represented Ireland in paracycling in Tokyo in 2021 and has competed in the Paracycling World Championships in the past. This year he will represent his country again in the World Championships in Glasgow. He is presently in training in Abbotstown at the high performance unit and has just returned from a training camp in Glasgow. He will shortly travel to Portugal for 4 weeks of training. He presented his jersey to members of the Senior Rugby squad who are playing Marist College in the Connacht Senior Cup Final on Wednesday 22nd March, and it was accepted on behalf of SGS by Conor Creaven, Team Captain. Martin wished the boys well and spoke to them about the dedication and sacrifices that are needed to achieve at the highest level in sport. Best of luck to Martin as he prepares for the World championships and hopefully qualifies for the Paralympics in Paris in 2024.
