During the year all 1st Year Students in SGS entered the “Comórtas Sóisearach Matamaitice Éireann”, a Junior maths competition run by the Irish Maths Teachers Association. The questions were based on many different mathematical concepts taught at Junior Cycle. The problems required abstract and critical thinking under time restrictions. Over 15,000 students entered from 216 schools across the country. Only 2 students in the country achieved maximum marks and a total of 62 students received over 80%. Sligo Grammar School student Róisín Spratt scored 92% which puts her in the top 1% in the country. Róisín received an award for her achievement and this was presented to her at the final Whole-School Assembly. Well done Róisín!
