The Grammar Rowing Club had 20 students competing at the Sligo Schools Rowing Competition which took place in the ATU yesterday.  Congratulations to Adam Foley, the fastest rower and overall winner of the event. Adam won the event with an average speed of 1.39 per 500m giving him a grand total of 1511 meters for the 5 minute test. Ronan Mullan also made it to the podium with a result of 1427 meters placing him third. Junior girls (U16s) win Connacht Schools Junior Cup for third time in 45 years.  Huge congratulations to our U16 girls who won the Connacht Junior Cup on Thursday last, 4th December at UoG sports grounds in Galway. The team captained by Myrtle Bamber and ably assisted by Emily Dunne produced two excellent performances in back to back matches, winning both the semi-final and final on penalty shuttles.  Goalkeeper, Aoibheann Jenkins, was the hero of the day saving 8 out of the 9 penalty shuttles

Sligo Grammar School seniors’ league semi-final took place at home on Friday 21st November. An intensely awaited game for both sides. SGS’ ferocity was clear exploding out of the blocks with Reuben Galvan smashing through St. Muredach’s College defenders for the first score of the game.  Ben O’Connor kept the score board ticking over going for a perfect 6/6 conversions from the tee.
