The Sligo Grammar School Parents Association (SGS PA) plays an important role in the life of the school, helping to strengthen the partnership between home and school for the benefit of all students.
We warmly invite all parents and guardians of current students to become involved. Whether you’re a regular volunteer or simply lend a hand from time to time, your support makes a real difference.

Guest speaker on the night will be Emma Brennan, a past pupil of Sligo Grammar School and the Performance Nutritionist with the Ireland Women’s XV (the women’s national rugby union team of Ireland).
Who We Are
Founded in 2006, the Sligo Grammar School Parents Association supports the school community through events, fundraising, and collaboration. Our work is guided by the following principles:
- Promoting the involvement of parents and guardians in their child’s education
- Supporting the academic, emotional, and social welfare of students
- Strengthening the relationship between parents, teachers, and school leadership
- Organising social and educational events that enrich the school experience
We are proud to be affiliated with Compass – the federation of Parents’ Associations in Protestant Secondary Schools in Ireland.

What We Do
Throughout the year, the Parents Association is active in supporting and organising a variety of initiatives and events, such as:
- Mock Interviews for 5th and 6th Year students, connecting them with professionals across a wide range of careers
- Raffle Fundraisers and community events that help raise vital funds
- Talks and Information Evenings for both parents and students on topics such as wellbeing, study skills, and digital safety
We also contribute to student resources and facilities through voluntary contributions, which support:
- ICT and digital learning tools
- Study skills programmes
- Library books and educational resources
- Sports equipment and student wellbeing supports

The PA currently has 10 active committee members, and we are always eager to welcome more. Whether you’re interested in helping at one event or joining the committee, your involvement is valued and appreciated.
