International Women’s Day at SGS

International Women’s Day did not go unmarked in Sligo Grammar School this year! Throughout the day activities, displays and celebrations were held to mark the contribution of women to the life of the school – and the country. The Girls Basketball team joined other girls teams from around the region for an International Women’s Day Basketball Blitz in the Mercy College, Sligo. At the same time the Science Department in SGS mounted a display celebrating Women in Science. The Hockey Teams marked the day with a set of new hockey sweatshirts and celebrated the fact that Maebh McLoughlin had just recently become the first SGS player to represent Ireland in hockey. The Girls Active group had a Women’s Day Yoga Class and our Boarder girls combined a Women’s Day party with a birthday party for their House Parent, Mrs Diane Potter! Well done to all our girls – and women. Happy Women’s Day! See some photos HERE.
