Friday 23rd October marked the halfway point of the Michaelmas Term at Sligo Grammar School, and w
Once again, students went above and beyond with their costumes, filling the school with colour, creativity and plenty of laughter. Every year, the costumes seem to get more imaginative, and this year was certainly no exception!
From the Sixth Year girls bringing the classic board game Cluedo to life, to the Fifth Year girls who appeared to have aged a few decades overnight, arriving dressed as grannies. Not to be outdone, a group of boys provided plenty of laughs by all dressing up as their friend Oscar for the day, proving that sometimes the best costume inspiration is sitting right beside you in class. There was no shortage of creativity or humour throughout the school.
Of course, the staff were not going to miss out on the fun. Following the success of last year’s themed costumes, which saw staff dressed as prisoners and our Headmaster, Mr Hall, taking on the role of prison guard, expectations were high for this year’s effort. This time, the staff swapped their prison uniforms for cowboy hats and Western attire, transforming the school into something resembling the Wild West. Leading the way was Mr Hall, who took on the role of sheriff, ensuring that his band of cowboys and cowgirls remained on their best behaviour!

A huge thank you must go to Ms Dwyer, who organised the event with the help of her Photography Club, for all their hard work in making the day such a success. Thank you also to our students, staff and school community for once again embracing the occasion with such enthusiasm and generosity.
It was a wonderful way to round off the first half of the Michaelmas Term, bringing the whole school community together for a day of fun, laughter and fundraising for a worthy cause.
Well done to everyone who took part.
