SGS Athletics

or the first time in a number of years Sligo Grammar School participated in Connacht Athletics events, and coach Seán Taylor was delighted to see such interest from students across all class groups. Various events were organised by Connacht Athletics and Team SGS first competed in ATU at the North Connacht Qualifiers and then went on to compete in Athlone on Friday 19th in the Connacht Finals. Alice Clarke, Anna Winston, Kenneth Kalu, Lara Clinch, Harry Graham and the Junior Boys Relay team (Kenneth Kalu, Kelvin Kalu, Alastair Sheehan and Seán Duffy) all qualified at the North Connacht event and went on to Athlone to compete in the Connacht Finals. Following their performances in Athlone Anna Winston, Kevin Kalu and the Junior Boys Relay team all qualified for the All-Ireland Series in Tullamore on 2nd and 3rd June. Well done to all our athletes, and thanks to coach Seán Taylor. Best of luck to Team SGS in Tullamore on the June Bank Holiday weekend.
