Retirements

As the 2022/23 school year closes we at Sligo Grammar School say goodbye to some of our colleagues, two of whom head off into retirement, and one who is taking a career break. Angie Doherty and Patricia Henry are retiring from their jobs in SGS. Angie has spent the last 10+ years as a member of our Admin staff, in charge of all matters dealing with the facilities of the School. She started, however as a Special Needs Assistant, and her genuinely caring nature carried on from that role to her dealings with the staff, who held her in great esteem. Patricia Henry has had a long association with the school, starting as a student and later working as a member of the Boarding staff. In recent years she acted as our Matron, and, like Angie was a friendly and caring presence in the school. Although Patricia is retiring from her job as Matron, she will continue to do some study duty in the Herm where she will continue to be a “mammy” figure to the girls! Finally, Maths teacher Nathan O’Malley will be taking a career break form SGS, but hopefully we will see him back with us in 2 years’ time. Best of luck to all three and we wish them well in the future.
