Young Scientist

The school has been entering the Esat BT Young Scientist and technology exhibition for four years and preparations are in place for the fifth.  Here are some photos of the most recent entries.

They were invited to send up two Projects to this competition. To be selected to exhibit is a major achievement in itself.  Well done!

The first project investigated "Human Emotion and Non-Verbal Characteristics of Speech".  Their aim was to link the emotions of interviewees and elements of their voice such as word speed and pitch.

Commenting on their findings the two fifth years pupils said that to their surprise they did not find anything conclusive - but considered this may be due to their small sample size.  They won 2nd place in the Social and Behavioural Sciences Category.

The second project - in the Junior Section of the same category involved using Guide Dogs in conjunction with families of autistic children.  This project was Highly Commended.
