Project Linus ireland

For the last three years the school has participated in the Linus Project. The Linus project was established in the USA. Project Linus is a 100% voluntary non-profit making organisation. It is there mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill., traumatised or otherwise in need, through the gift of new, homemade, washable blankets that have been lovingly created by volunteers. The TY students make quilts from scraps of old material and also from bought materials. In the three years since the school participated in the Linus Project over 20 quilts have been made and donated to the Special Children's Ward in the hospital. The Grammar donate their quilts to the Sligo General Hospital Baby Care Unit.
Oxfam charity swap shop
On the 27th of January, the Radisson hotel hosted
a sponsored swap shop for Oxfam charity.
People brought in old, unwanted or too-small clothes, had them sorted
into sections of different types of clothing, and were given tokens
to use within the 'shop'. Different
items cost different amounts of tokens, like; t-shirts,
trousers, skirts, jumpers and jackets cost two tokens, shoes, dresses
and coats were three tokens, handbags, belts, and miscellaneous items
cost one token.
One very observant student found a Chanel clutch purse, for the price of
one euro!
Below are some photos from the event.
