TY Business

This year's enterprise classes are focusing on creating a mini company product or service to produce and sell. Some people are creating and selling hand made cards where half of the money goes to charity. Others are writing a children's story which is illustrated all by hand. There are lots more companies such as a group who are selling firewood, a calendar, a recipe book and a new board game!! It should be an interesting year!

Recipe Book

For example one group are doing a recipe book. Its called 'The Tastes of Sligo' the idea is to get lots of different recipes from restaurants around Sligo and put them all into one handy book. The restaurants are more than happy to give their recipes because this book also helps with advertising for them. A great idea of the team is to give directions to some of the restaurants in the book so it creates more advertising for the restaurant. This particular group and a few others got a grant from the business board of Ireland to help with the success of the project. Both classes also visited the enterprise bus which gave ideas to all involved and helped with the setting up of some mini companies!!

Calender 2010

'365' is a group that is making a calendar for 2010. It shows local scenes of Sligo that were taken by students.
They were sponsored by Easons, and printed through Tiger printing. All raised funds are going to be donated to 'Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind'.

Quirky Creations

This is a group that's producing hand made cards, mainly focusing on Valentines day cards. They should soon be available for purchase.
Proceeds will be donated to a charity, not yet decided.

There are many other mini-companies, that will hopefully  progress to raising funds for multiple charities.
