Over the year a number of science trips take place

Armagh Planitarium

Form 1 above built Rockets on their visit to Armagh Planitarium.

Physics Trip 

Fifth form physics pupils went to NUIG to attend the Tyndall Lecture. This year the lecture was entitled ‘Living with a Star’. The lecture was about the sun. It was informative and enjoyable. There was also a tour of the physics department.

Galway Atlantaquarium

Form 3 saw a fascinating variety of fish were in the Galway Atlantaquarium.

 

Ploughing championships

5th & 6th form agricultural science classes had a day out at the ploughing championships. They got a chance to see all aspects of farming both in production and agribusiness.

 

Ulster University

Fifth form science had a trip to the University of Ulster, Coleraine. Students attended a series of lectures covering various topics from tsunami forecasting, to the threat of superbugs.

 

Woodville Farm

 

4th  form agricultural science class  did their animal production field work on their visit to Woodville Farm. They became more familiar with sheep farming during the lambing season. They gained an appreciation for the role of farmers in environmental protection and gained experience in a beef farming enterprise.

Potato Farm

Form 5 and 6 agricultural science classes did their crop production fieldwork at a farm in Maugherow. They became familiar with all aspects of potato growing. They also witnessed seed potatoes being planted. They also gained an insight into growing barley.

EAGLE FLYING

This year the transition year students went to the eagles flying sanctuary . Students saw a wide variety of birds , pigs , ferrets and goats at the venue . The feedback for the event was very good from both students and teachers which generates hope that this event will be repeated next year .
