As Form 6 leave our walls we wish them good luck and God bless in their future lives.  We hope they will keep in touch and perhaps log on to this website now and again!

Asia-Europe Project

The final trip in connection with the Asia-Europe Project "Local Traditions" brought TY to Croagh Patrick recently.  The link schools are posting accounts and media on a closed virtual web space and we with interest await their descriptions.

Dyslexia Day

The SEN department in the school held a Dyslexia Day to raise awareness amongst pupils and staff of the manner in which pupils with dyslexia can be aided to surmount their challenges.

Newark Academy Sings!

From the 13th-15th of March,  a group of a cappella singers from Newark Academy, New Jersey in the United States came and stayed with some of the Grammar School students.  Pictured right they sing at our Irish Week Ceili. We hope they enjoyed their stay as much as we enjoyed having them!

Freedom of SGS

We congratulate Mr. Dick Woodmartin as he is presented with the "Freedom of the Grammar School" - a unique award and well deserved after over 30 years commitment to the School Board.  Thank you!

Opening of our new Home Economics Kitchen

The opening of the new Home Economics Kitchen was marked with a week of special events for Staff and Pupils.

Prisk Orphanage Appeal

Pupils from Form 3 CSPE class proudly present a cheque €850 towards Prisk Orphanage in Belarus.  This was their CSPE Action Project.

New Chairman

With deep appreciation we say "thank you", but not "good-bye" to Mr. Dick Woodmartin as he retires as Chairman of the Board after 30 years .  We warmly welcome Mr. Shaun Connor and look forward with confidence to his leadership.

Annual Carol Service

The choir excelled themselves again at the end of the Christmas term in our traditional Service of Nine Lessons and Carols

History and Art Trip

During early November members of form 6 History class and form 5 Art class visited Kilmainham Jail, the Dail, the National Gallery and the National Museum.

Prize Day

The Annual School Prize Day took place on 28th October, 2005.  Mrs Kitty McConkey, right presents the Entrepreneurship Cup in the presence of the Bishop Arthur Williams of Ohio (the guest speaker). 

We are helping to Build a School in Uganda!

SGS is part of the Sligo "Fields of Life" plan to build Bajja Community Primary School!  A "Uganda Night" full of Uganda activity and displays is planned for February2nd to raise awareness and funds.   Can you help us?  Click here for more details

Asia-Europe Project

This project aims to provide Asian and European students (12-18 years of age) with opportunities to discover traditions and ceremonies in their countries that are significant for the people for one reason or another. 

Form 1

Form 1 already are showing the promise of making a valued contribution to both the academic and extra curricular life of the school.
