"New Releases" Awards

Well done!  Pictured left with Mairead Corrigan are our two Transition Year students whose project was highly commended in the New Releases competition at an Award Ceremony in the Waterfront in Belfast.

Confirmation Service in Calry Church

On 11th May in a packed church Bishop Ken Clarke confirmed 12 candidates in Calry. Eleven of those confirmed were from the school. We wish all those confirmed every blessing.

Home Economics Practical

Spring Day In Europe

Recently our school held a number of events to mark Spring Day in Europe and this was an attempt to increase pupils' awareness on the debate of the future of Europe.

Some of the students can be seen with their Spring Day quiz sheets in the picture. Students from 4th year also participated in the European Youth Parliament in Dublin (For further information on Youth Parliament click here). TY ESP class watched a video on Hector's (from TG4) explanation of what the forum on the future of Europe is about and wrote a letter giving their views as part of a competition.

International Food Day

Recently our 5th year Geography students held an international food day. The students in the class were responsible for all the food and cooked any food that was available on the day. The menu boasted a broad variety of European and international dishes and were presented very professionally on the day.

5th and 6th year trip to ‘GAFA’

On Tuesday 25th of February Mrs Cox took twenty 5th and 6th year students to the Taibhdhearc Theatre in Galway to see Gafa. The first 3 chapters in the novel ‘Gafa’ is on for the present Leaving Certificate course. The performance included a stage version of the whole book which was written by Ré Ó Laighléis and directed by Darach MacConiomaire . This was an excellent production which was very well portrayed. The trip was organised by Mrs. Cox and gave the students involved a greater understanding of the novel.

SGS Rugby Cheer Leaders!!

Our School now not only boasts that it has 2 teams which have won the StatOil Connacht Rugby Cup Finals...but that it has the best and most colourful support in the country to inspire victory!!

Esat B.T. Young Scientists Exhibition 2003

The Esat B.T. Young Scientists Exhibition took place from Wednesday 8th to Saturday 11th of January. We are proud to say that two projects were put forward from five of our own young scientists in Transition Year to represent the school  One of the projects was based on how different types of water effect the rate at which paint fades.  The other was on the effect water has on the strength and durability of concrete.

PAL

Through our involvement with PAL three barristers came to the school and organised MockTrials with our Transition Year pupils.

Our New Tuckshop

We have a new tuckshop!  It’s bigger, much improved and contains a wider range of food and drink.  The new tuckshop has been relocated to the old gym, it is more colourful and spacious than our last one. Now, hot drinks such as tea, coffee and hot chocolate, also healthy snacks for example rolls and soup are being distributed as well as the usual sweets and drinks which everyone still enjoys.
