Wynn Oliver Welcome to Sligo Grammar School's web site. The keystones to the school's success include respect, trust, co-operation, participation, consultation, collaboration and teamwork. Our enthusiastic and dedicated staff place great emphasis on the holistic approach. Such efforts are channelled so that our pupils develop characteristics of being good, reliable citizens, fit to take their place in society. Together with a fine tradition of sport and community involvement, the school offers a wide range of activities to ensure the personal and social development of the whole child.

Our Mission Statement below explains more formally what we aspire to achieve....

Sligo Grammar School aims to address the academic, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual and cultural aspects of students’ growth. This is achievable by

  • fostering a sense of moral, spiritual, religious, social and cultural values
  • nurturing a sense of personal identity and self-esteem and a respect for the rights and beliefs of others
  • promoting quality and equality for all
  • fostering a spirit of self-reliance, innovation, initiative, imagination and participation
  • creating tolerant, caring and politically aware members of society

I hope that the web site will give you a flavour of school life, as well as being informative and helpful. The site is maintained and updated by the students under the watchful eye of a member of staff. Neither web site nor prospectus is able to convey what being a student in our school is really like.
