Debating

IRISH debatiNG

In January our Junior Debating Team went up against the Convent of Mercy in Roscommon. The pupils had to debate against this topic - "Is féidir le muintir na héireann a bheith Bródúil as Louis Walsh." " The people of Ireland can be proud of Louis Walsh. Despite excellent speeces and points they lost and are out of the competition.

The Senior Debating Team were recently using their skills to oppose the motion that... "There's a huge standard of journalism in Ireland
or " Too much public money is spent on the arts in Ireland".
Like the juniors they did really well but were defeated by an excellent team.

ENGLISH Debating

We have new students taking part this year's in English debating and are looking forward to seeing how they do in any upcoming debates. Last years teams were particularly successful in their debates in the Denny West of Ireland debating Competition. The new students are working on developing their skills. We wish them the best of luck!

German Debating

German Debating: Senior German students compete every year in the national GDI German Debating Competition, organised by the Goethe-Institute in Dublin. Our team is currently preparing for round two and will hopefully progress further in the competition. We wish them luck!
