The Choir

Sligo Grammar School choir, is entering into its 24st year of existence in its present form. Some 40 strong, it is a full SATB choir with girls and boys both equally eager to join. Its primary functions take place within the school, in Calry Church for the school's annual Prize-giving and Nine Lessons and Carols. Click the photo above to link to a shot clip of the choir.

Sligo Grammar School choir have been asked to sing in the Hawkswell theatre on November 26 on the occasion of the visit of the internationally acclaimed choir, the Harlem Gospel Choir to Sligo.
The School Choir will perform a set of about 20 minutes and will join the Harlem Gospel Singers on stage for the finale 'O Happy Day'.

The choir boasts some fine soloists and some very talented voices. They have sung on National television and radio, and have released 2 CDs. The second of which 'What Sweeter Music', a selection of Christmas Carols from Sligo Grammar School.

Mr. Potter who has been taking the Choir for the last couple of years has left teaching the choir, we thank him for dedication and hard work. We like to welcome our new choir teacher Miss. Wilson and we hope she will enjoy teaching the choir. We are all looking forward to the annual carol service on Friday 18th December.
